Press release: 1 December 2010

Acciona Infrastructures achieves OHSAS 18001 certification for Occupational Health and Safety from BSI. With this certification, Acciona Infrastructures ensures that its management system falls under the Occupational Health and Safety Management System, according to OHSAS 18001.

The award ceremony took place last October in the Acciona offices in Madrid. In the course of the event, Marcio Viegas, BSI’s Managing Director for France, Portugal and Spain, and José Luis Miguel, BSI’s Sales Director for Spain, awarded the certificate to Pablo Yáñez, Director of Risk Prevention in Acciona Infrastructures, and the Acciona Infrastructures’ team.

The Occupational Safety and Health Certification is designed to show an organization's commitment to health and safety in all activities that unfold in the workplace, at both a national and international level.

Likewise, the scope of the Occupational Safety and Health Management System is wide, encompassing the construction and management of all types of civil buildings and works, such as bridges, viaducts, large structures, railways, roads, and pipelines, as well as hydraulic, marine, electrical, and mechanical projects. It extends also to include the design and manufacturing of metal structure installation, extraction, and arid treatment, and the maintenance and management of civil works’ machinery parks.
